H H SRI VISHWAPRIYA THEERTHA SWAMIJI PRESIDENT (Udupi Sri Admar Mutt Education Council)
Nowadays the important aim of education has become to prepare the students of their examination, encouraging them to compete with one another to score high mark and finally to get good and lucrative jobs. But things were not like this in the past. The students had respect to their teachers in spite of the punishments they used to get from them. There was close and friendly relation between the teachers and students. In my opinion teachers should not teach the students only to make them pass the examinations. Importance should be given for the acquisition of knowledge. The education should aim at all-round development of the students. This should be the primary aim of education.
President H.H.Sri VishwapriyaTheerthaSwamiji Udupi Sri Admar Mutt Education Council.
My humble pranamas to swamiji. I am greatful to his holiness for providing me an opportunity to serve Poornaprajna PU college Udupi as its Principal.
There is no instance in the life of a person where he can sit back and say “There is nothing more to learn”. Education is not just about the subjects that are learnt and taught in college, gathering certificates and feeling proud of oneself. It is also learning how to attain emotional stability and independence. It is the process of imbibing empathy and morality. Respect for the norms of society, pride in ones country and its armed forces are salient features of Education and that is what we, in our institution aim at. It is a lifelong exercise that can be unbelievably exciting if only we wish to experience each and every moment of life. We believe in the philosophy of work is worship. Our hardworking and dedicated teachers have always strived for well being and future of our students. Our college aims at all round development of our students.
Poornaprajna College came into being in 1960 with initiation taken by the Swamijis of the eight Mutts of Udupi . Later, for the betterment of the institution the maintenance and governance were entrusted to Sri Admar Mutt Education Council, a registered society which functioned under the presidentship of H.H. Sri Vibudhesha Theertha Swamiji of Sri Admar Mutt. Initially, the College offered only Arts and Commerce streams. Subsequently, science courses were introduced at the P.U. level in 1963. Following a policy decision of the Government to bifurcate the P.U. course from the Degree Course, P. U. Colleges in Karnataka were granted separate entity since 2001.Our college is functioning as an unaided educational institution with the name "Poornaprajna Unaided Pre-University College, Udupi".
H.H.Swamiji had dreamt of making our college numero uno within not too distant future and it is a matter of great satisfaction for all as that the college is making a steady progress towards the fulfilment of the dream of its founder President. H. H. Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, he present President of the College Committee, is following in the footsteps of his Guru and is ably guiding the committee to take the college to still greater heights. Mrs.Prathima Baliga, the present Principal of the college, is confident of building on the solid foundation laid by her predecessors and making the college bask in greater glory in the years to come. Towards his, she has the unflinching support of the experienced and dynamic teaching staff of the college who are admirably committed to their profession and college.
